Family Spiderwort (unofficial)

The Burgeoning Spiderwort is a plant that produces berries used to make sprays. Each plant can have up to five berries at once, each berry being the color of the spray it is used to concoct. Pikmin that are ordered to will climb up the stalk, and once they reach the berries, they will begin pummeling, causing berries to periodically fall until none are left, prompting the Pikmin to drop off the plant. Each berry only needs one Pikmin to carry and will be delivered by them to the ship. Berries that are left on the ground too long disappear, but the Burgeoning Spiderwort will eventually grow more.

In Pikmin 2, Burgeoning Spiderworts can bear ultra-spicy berries, ultra-bitter berries, or rarely both. Burgeoning Spiderworts steadily grow as time progresses, until they are mature enough to bear berries. Ravenous Whiskerpillars can appear in their vicinity and climb up them to eat the berries one-by-one, and some type of mold can eventually develop and prevent the plants from growing.

In Pikmin 3, only ultra-spicy Burgeoning Spiderworts are found, all of them already fully grown. While pummeling the berries, one Pikmin will fall from the plant for each berry that dropped and begin carrying it. Pikmin that deliver a berry automatically return to the Burgeoning Spiderwort they got the berry from. All of a Burgeoning Spiderwort's berries will drop at once if a bomb rock detonates near the plant or a Rock Pikmin is thrown at the center berry.

Areas Unfamiliar Valley, Roiling Springs, Woods of Occlusion, Karst of Gales, Vengeful Thicket, Defiled Grounds, The Crater

Burgeoning Spiderworts in Pikmin X: Deep Freeze produce four types of berries. Red is the most common, light blue appears occasionally, purple is uncommon, and yellow is the rarest; these can be made into ultra-spicy spray, ultra-sour spray, ultra-bitter spray, and ultra-sweet spray, respectively.

At Unfamiliar Valley, there is a single plant bearing red berries close to the first crystal wall; it is inaccessible until the return trip after obtaining Rock Pikmin. At Roiling Springs is a patch of three plants, all with red berries, a bit away from the landing site; they grow over time and will attract Ravenous Whiskerpillars once they mature. A single plant with purple berries is hidden in an alcove near the entrance to the Basalt Tunnels; Red Pikmin are needed to reach it as it is blocked off by lava. A single plant with yellow berries is guarded by a Fiery Bulblax in a hidden room only accessible by Blue Pikmin. At the Woods of Occlusion, a patch of three plants with blue berries grows behind a rope wall; they are guarded by a Glacial Helmuck, which will attempt to attack Pikmin while they harvest the berries. Two plants bearing red berries are located a decent distance away from each other in a foggy section; take care to watch for the Mistmites lurking in the fog. At the Karst of Gales, two plants bearing red berries grow on separate ledges in an outdoors section near a Decorated Cannon Beetle; Yellow Pikmin or Winged Pikmin are needed to reach it because it is placed too high for other Pikmin to reach. Three plants with a combination of red and purple berries grow around the edges of the area with the Elder Mamutas, surrounded by thick foliage, so they may be difficult to spot at first glance. At Vengeful Thicket, three plants with a combination of red and blue berries grow around the huge tree that leads to the Kingdom of Thorns; one of them is near the entrance but the other two are located in more precarious spots not instantly accessible, though Ravenous Whiskerpillars lurk near all of them. A single plant bearing purple berries is in a secret room near the Umbral Ridge, accessible by letting Moss Pikmin freeze some water, allowing leaders to walk into the room and access the spiderwort. At the Defiled Grounds, two plants with blue berries appear in a large pool of polluted water and will only mature if the water is purified by a filtration device. Two plants bearing a mix of purple and yellow berries in a hidden room near the entrance to the Petroleum Pipeline; Burr Pikmin are needed to climb the wet vines leading up to the spiderworts, but beware of the Aggregating Poofspore that lurks at the top. Lastly, at the Crater, a single plant bearing yellow berries in a hidden room accessible through a tunnel near the landing site.

Caves Peaceful Well

In Pikmin: Connection of the Worlds, Burgeoning Spiderworts grow in temperate locations with fertile soil, such as Shimmering Lake. Some bear one type of berry while others bear two or more. Six appear at the Garden, marking the most amount of Burgeoning Spiderworts that appear in one area. A pair of them also appears in sublevel one of the Peaceful Well, and are the only Burgeoning Spiderworts to appear in any cave. One produces both ultra-spicy and ultra-bitter berries, while the other produces both ultra-scorching and ultra-freezing berries. The spiderworts in the Peaceful Well wilt and disappear after five uses, but can be found again upon revisiting the cave. Burgeoning Spiderworts are logged in the Piklopedia upon discovering them.

Notes

Olimar's notes

What causes the seemingly parasitic molds to appear above these plants, I have no idea. And, as far as I know, the burgeoning spiderwort is the only plant capable of producing more than one type of fruit or berry.

Areas Altitude Springs, Volcanic Wastes, Cliffside Meadow, Frigid Mountain, Foghorn Wetlands, Great Desert, Darkness Plateau

In Pikspore, Burgeoning Spiderworts appear in most areas, and can bear two new colors of berry, green and cyan. At Altitude Springs, two of them are found in the watering hole section, and both produce red berries; two Ravenous Whiskerpillars lurk near them. There is a spiderwort in the jungle subarea, hidden by several plants, that produces only green berries. At the Volcanic Wastes, there are two inside a tree near the entrance to Petrified Arbor, and both produce red berries; there is only one Ravenous Whiskerpillar at first, but another one appears after day ten. At Cliffside Meadow, there are two on a flat-topped hill near the landing site that both produce cyan berries and three Ravenous Whiskerpillars are near. There is one in a pool of water near the entrance to Bulborb Den that produces red and purple berries. There is one on a ledge sticking out of the big cliff that produces only purple berries; the Pikmin must extend a climbing stick to get to it. The spiderworts at Frigid Mountain are a different species, adapted to the harsh climate. Their stems are dark blue and they have purplish leaves. There are three in the forest section, and they all produce red, green, and cyan berries; there are four Ravenous Whiskerpillars nearby. There's one in the small, watery section behind the landing site that produces green berries; the cold water makes only Cyan Pikmin able to get the berries. At Foghorn Wetlands, there are two in a pool of mud near the landing site that all produce green berries; there are three Ravenous Whiskerpillars near them, and, after day thirty-one, a Berry Bloyster will appear. There's one near the entrance to Night Garden, covered in tall grass that makes it very hard to spot, that produces all types of berries. At the Great Desert, four grow in the grass and water near the entrance to Hidden Oasis, and they all produce purple berries; a Berry Bloyster lurks in the water and will eat the berries if not killed. Lastly, at Darkness Plateau, there are four in a hidden area near the entrance to Nostalgia Pit, and they produce all kinds of berries; there are six Ravenous Whiskerpillars to contend with.
