Hazard

Carbon fluid is a hazardous material that takes the form of a thick black substance that is highly destructive, capable of assimilating and killing even the hardiest of creatures to convert them into duplicates to spread the infection further. This substance can also infect Pikmin, converting them into carbon duplicates called Carbomin. By destroying the source, carbon fluid can be easily and permanently destroyed by a simple swarm attack.

Carbon fluid is a major hazard in Pikmin: Neo. Taking the form of a thick black fluid with deep purple energy seeping from it, carbon fluid is capable of polluting the environment and infecting wildlife when spread by Carbon Onions, which seep carbon fluid into the ground to infect the environment. Infected environments gain an eerie purple atmosphere and have their music heavily distorted. All creatures infected and assimilated by the carbon fluid become more durable, and their elemental abilities, if any, are replaced by the ability to create and spread more carbon fluid. Creatures that survive the assimilation become infected by the carbon virus, making them even more dangerous and aggressive. Pikmin can be infected as well, creating doppelgangers known as Carbomin in the process. Although usually untouchable, destroying a Carbon Onion renders the surrounding carbon destructible and removable using a simple swarm attack. Carbon fluid also is weak to open flames and stray lightning and will instantly explode upon contact with them. These qualities make carbon fluid one of the most dangerous hazards.
