Dirt gates are sandcastle-like gates that are the most basic type of gate besides bramble gates. They can be destroyed by any Pikmin type, and break down and fall apart as they are damaged. A single bomb rock can be used to instantly demolish a dirt gate. Some dirt gates have various designs, made of white paint, on the columns supporting them.

In Pikmin V, dirt walls are mostly the same as before, but they take double damage from Red Pikmin. Depending on the region or Mission Mode stage they are found in, dirt walls may appear as sand walls, snow walls, or wooden gates.

Dirt blocks are a returning obstacle in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. The large walls can be found blocking pathways to other areas. Dirt walls can be found with white paint in various different patterns all over their edges. Some of them may even depict enemies like the Red Bulborb. Dirt walls can be taken down by any Pikmin type, but Fur Pikmin do the most damage to them due to their digging speed. Red Pikmin also do extra damage as well. Dirt walls can also be taken out by bomb rocks.

In Pikmin: Shipwrecked Stargazers, dirt walls are just as they were in Pikmin 3, but some of them don't have defined borders and can span as far as needed to fill a gap. A good example of this is one in Spelunker's Locker's fifth sublevel.
