Family Breadbug (assumed)

The Dwarf Yellow Bulborb is a member of the breadbug family that was seen in prerelease footage of Pikmin 2 alongside the Yellow Bulborb. Except for its yellow backside and uniquely black spots, it resembles the Dwarf Red Bulborb. It apparently became the Snow Bulborb as development on the game continued.

Notes

Olimar's notes

This creature is yet another variety of vanilla breadbug that has adapted a look similar to a mature grub-dog in order to keep itself safe; in this case, it is the yellow bulborb. Due to the warm, gritty climates that they inhabit, this species is a tad bit weaker than the average dwarf bulborb, but they are quicker on their feet due to unknown behavioral causes. It has been hypothesized that the species had adapted stronger muscles in their legs in order to run to cover from sandstorms more quickly.

Dwarf Yellow Bulborbs appear in Pikmin: Sinister Incinerator as the breadbug mimics of Yellow Bulborbs. Ironically, Yellow Bulborbs are thought to be Red Bulborbs with a different skin pattern that occurred due to environmental changes, proving yet again that breadbugs can adapt to sudden changes to meet whatever needs are necessary to remain incognito amongst larger predators.
