Appearance
The Empress Bulbear looks like a regular Empress but with some defining other features. It is larger than a regular Empress and is wearing armor made of tree bark. There are three versions of the Empress Bulbear:a regular version that doesn't spawn enemies or cause a rock slide, a version that spawns Bulbear Larvae, and a version that spawns larvae and makes rocks fall from the ceiling.
Notes
Olimar's notes
- “The Empress Bulbear is a very curious creature. Despite the laws of physics saying that it is impossible for this creature to exist, it boldly defies them and continues to exist. Recent studies have shown that its ant-like/bee-like body structure is specifically designed to hold this creature's massive reproductive system that can release larva as needed by the pack's alpha male, which is almost always around the Empress Bulbear. This creature is very useful to teachers who teach alien biology because it shows almost perfectly the special adaptations that the Grub-dog family uses to survive. Maybe when I finally get home I could sell some of these specimens and make a fortune.”
Louie's notes
- “Remains are not suitable for cooking. Any extreme heat or cold on the body after 48 hours shatters the creature into millions of tiny pieces. I like Olimar's idea of what to do with these better.”
Attacks
- Headbutts the ground in front of it, hoping to kill pikmin
- Rolls from side to side of the room
- Spawns Larvae
- Bites the area in front of its head
- Rams against the wall and makes rocks fall from the sky
Trivia
- It is the easiest adult grub-dogs still alive.
- The larvae it spawns can sometimes be more dangerous than the actual boss.
- There is a glitch that can happen when fighting this creature. The creature may get stuck in a wall or the floor and be unable to be hit. You have to exit the cave or end the day to fix the glitch.Strangely the glitch will not fix if you re-enter the cave during that day or end the day without saving and resetting to the last save.
