Unlike most Dweevils, Foundation Dweevils do not use an element. They often pick up smaller elemental Dweevils and place them on their heads to form a tower of Dweevils, but they never pick up other Foundation Dweevils. They have actual arms, so they are likely to be close relatives of the Titan Dweevil. Foundation Dweevils are an intelligent Dweevil species, and possess a basic understanding of Pikmin possessing immunities to a range of hazards and having power in numbers. So, the Foundation Dweevil serves as the foundation for the tower of elemental Dweevils it builds over itself, hence the name. Foundation Dweevils do not include Volatile Dweevils in their Dweevil towers, but they may be used against a tower of Dweevils to bring the entire stack down. Alone, Foundation Dweevils are harmless and run away from Leaders and Pikmin. A fully grown one, known as the Elder Foundation Dweevil serves as the boss of Scuttling Sanctum. All Foundation Dweevils's exoskeleton extends beyond the actual top of it's legs, creating a sort of cylinder that other dweevils use for footholds.
