The Greedy Long Legs is the second major boss in Pikmin: Rising. An ancient Arachnorb, It is found on Sublevel 10 of the Desert Keep, inside a giant treasure chest. It is considered completely invincible before discovering its weak point.
Appearance
The Greedy Long Legs is very similar in appearance to the Beady Long Legs, but is a solid, golden color. It has triangular blue markings on some leg segments, as well as spikes all over its feet. The sphere that makes up its body can be lowered on a chain from where the legs intersect, and can also be opened into two halves.
Attacks
Feet
The Arachnorb moves in a grid-like pattern, never moving diagonally. Its feet are covered in spikes, and any Pikmin type besides Green Pikmin will perish upon contact. The spikes can be removed by Green Pikmin, however.
Stomp
Pikmin can be crushed under the creature's feet. Even Rock Pikmin will die when stepped on if the spikes are not eliminated. The Greedy Long Legs may stop periodically to stomp furiously in place. This attack will cause coins beneath it to fly outward, crushing any non-Rock Pikmin they land on.
Wrecking Ball
The Greedy Long Leg's signature move. It will lower its body on a chain to use as a wrecking ball. The ball will move along with the beast, smashing Pikmin in its path. This attack is in effect for only 15 seconds at a time, afterward, the chain will retract.
Clamp
After about 5 seconds of its core being exposed, the halves of its body will begin to shake. This serves as a warning that the ball is about to close. Any Pikmin still attacking the core will be deflowered and thrown back upon the ball's closing.
Strategy
Although the wrecking ball is used as an attack, it is also the Greedy Long Leg's weak point. Throwing Rock Pikmin diagonally at the creature's body during the wrecking ball attack will cause the ball to slam into the creature's own legs. This makes the Arachnorb fall to the ground, thus breaking its shell open and revealing its organic core, which Pikmin can be thrown onto to damage. Captains should use Red or Green Pikmin to attack the core.
It isn't necessary to destroy the spikes on the creature's feet. Doing so may even be riskier, as Green Pikmin could easily be crushed.
Spoils
After the core is destroyed, the Flash Memorizer will fall out of the body, and the Greedy Long Legs will collapse and fade away.
