The Frost Blowhog is a blowhog appearing in Pikmin 8: The World Beyond, first encountered in the second section of the Palace of Waves. It spews frigid air from its teal-tipped trunk at Pikmin when provoked, instantly freezing any on contact. If attacked before it can blow air, a Frost Blowhog will buck its attackers off before doing so. Cyan Pikmin are effective against them due to their immunity to ice, and they and Rock Pikmin can be used to break the ice off of a frozen Pikmin that would otherwise die after being frozen for thirty seconds.

In Pikmin Sunshine, the Frost Blowhog is a land-based blowhog species that blows frigid air capable of freezing Pikmin. Cyan Pikmin are effective against it because of their resistance to ice.

Notes

In-game entry

This creature looks a lot like a hog, only chill. Why? The frigid air it blows.

Attacks Blows frigid air

In Pikmin: The Bulblaxian War, Icy Blowhogs are more closely related to their airborne relatives more than their ground-based ones despite their awkward appearance. They resemble cyan Withering Blowhogs and walk around using their four fins as legs. They spew liquid nitrogen that will freeze Pikmin on contact, an attack made extremely dangerous due to the absence of ice-resistant Pikmin. One appears in the Temple of Ice, holding the War Memorial.

Notes

Olimar's notes

The withering blowhog uses nitrogen to fly, but if it goes into a cold enough area, the nitrogen will become liquid, thus grounding it. Blowhogs who experience this slowly evolve into icy blowhogs, and they use the liquid nitrogen to freeze prey and predators.

Ship's notes

Add these onto snow bulblaxes, and green bulborb's random fire doesn't stand a chance. And neither does the shell of my hold.

Attacks Blows frigid air

The Icy Blowhog is a ground-based blowhog in Pikmin: Distant Planet that blows cold air at Pikmin. Cyan Pikmin can not be harmed by their signature attack. Externally, it has the same shape as other ground blowhogs, but with a light blue or cyan snout. Many of the Icy Blowhog's organs can not function if they are too hot, and to solve this problem, this type of blowhog has an internal mechanism that acts as a natural air conditioner; heat is removed from the internal organs and released into the skin. Their skin is usually warm to the touch compared to the surrounding environment. The mechanism also means that they can survive in any environment regardless of the temperature of the area. It has even been observed that these are more common in hot areas than cold areas, due to their method of attack. It is believed that this creature is more closely related to the air-based blowhogs than the other ground-based ones. Some speculate that this is the link between air and ground blowhogs, but most disagree. The thread is that Icy Blowhogs are ground-based but still have air-expelling abilities, as opposed to what other ground blowhogs spray; this blowhog can not float because the colder air is denser than in air-based relatives.
