The Iridescent Flint Beetle makes an appearance in Pikmin: Antarctic Survival, in which it can be encountered in any of the nine areas of the Antarctic. When exploring an area, an exploration team has a small chance to encounter an Iridescent Flint Beetle, rather than encountering a typical enemy. Iridescent Flint Beetles will only appear in a region once its tyrant has been defeated, and are quite rare but can be found more frequently if the exploration team contains certain creatures, such as those with a strong sense of smell for tracking Flint Beetles, or those with the hidden "flint luck" trait.
Iridescent Flint Beetles cannot be Awakened, as any attacks that would Awaken other creatures will merely flip Iridescent Flint Beetles, causing them to spit up their contents as they are known to do. As a result of this, no Iridescent Flint Beetle can be recruited to the Diamond Settlement as a resident. Instead, their only use is as a source of items. An Iridescent Flint Beetle will drop three chunks of raw material each with a weight of two on its first flip, two balls of thread on its second hit, and an ultra-spicy spray, or ultra-spicy bushel if ultra-spicy spray is not unlocked, on its third hit, at which point it will flee back underground.
If an Iridescent Flint Beetle was flipped at least once, it will drop a Flint Beetle Token when burrowing back into the ground. This rare green medallion is a good-luck charm and can be consumed at any time when a resident creature scores a critical fail on an action or attack in order to attempt the action or attack again.

The Iridescent Flint Beetle is a returning enemy appearing in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. The creature retains its appearance. These species of beetles will pop out of the ground if approached. They will dash far, before stopping to rest for a few seconds, dashing again to repeat the process. Idle Pikmin will run after the beetle to try and attack it, but its shell makes it invulnerable to attack. However, if a Pikmin lands on its back, or a Purple Pikmin slams down near it, the Beetle will flip over and drop goodies before dashing away again. They can drop pellets, nectar, and even sprays. Once hit three times, or after enough time has passed, they will dig back underground, never to be seen again.

Notes

Olimar's observations

This bug, while rather uncommon, is a great way to get some easy resources for the Pikmin. It seems to be much quicker than before though, so it takes being clever to really get everything out of it before it hides away. For what they are, I must say they are sort of cute. I could see my kids taking their pet Flint Beetle for a walk. Oh, what am I saying? I think this planet is starting to get to my brain...

The Iridescent Flint Beetle is a harmless enemy appearing in Pikmin Eco, and one of the few enemies that are found in every aboveground area in the game. It scurries around at high speeds and drops nectar and pellets when struck from above, so although difficult to hit it is beneficial to try and attack it.

Notes

Sagittarius' notes

Place in a tank akin to a hamster's pen, with tubes attached to the sides in an interconnected network. Layer with mulch along the bottom, then throw in liberal clippings of grass for the beetle to hide in. Feed with standard food pellets and clean the cage regularly.

Libra's notes

Although hard and tough, this beetle's shell shimmers like a beautiful stone. It's a perfect substitute for refined jade in jewelrycraft!

Charlie's notes

Essentially, this creature is invincible; attacking it just triggers it to spit out pellets and other foodstuffs. Luckily, it's not hostile, although Pikmin do go crazy for it.

Derrick's notes

The creature's stomach makes for a perfect holding cell for small creatures, especially those of the mandiblard family. The membrane generated by the stomach enzymes can hold all sorts of potions and keep them preserved for months.

Notes

Olimar's notes

The flint beetle family is characterised by their perfectly airtight stomachs, of which they can store pellets in for further digestion much later. The contents in their stomach can be left untouched by digestive enzymes for months at a time in order to save them for winter. There are two recognised iridescent flint beetle species, the "seed pod" species, and the much more uncommon, "turtleback" species. This specimen belongs to the latter subspecies.

Louie's notes

The prismal innards of this beetle have a taste that's distinct and delicious. Add it to your filé gumbo to make it an absolute party starter during group gatherings.

Ship's comments

I feel it's wrong chasing these creatures down for their resources, but business is business. Our company president would likely never do that himself... Oh, who am I kidding?
