Scientific name Pilli envelopens
Family Flint beetle

The Iridescent Flint Beetle is harmless to Pikmin, and instead runs around unpredictably. When a Pikmin is thrown directly on top of it, it flips over and drops a useful object or item, such as a pellet or a drop of spray. Pikmin attacking from the ground can not harm it. This enemy spends most of the time underground, only surfacing when a leader comes near, and it will return to the ground after some time has passed or after it has been hit enough times.

Notes

Olimar's observations

This bug, while rather uncommon, is a great way to get some easy resources for the Pikmin. It seems to be much quicker than before though, so it takes being clever to really get everything out of it before it hides away. For what they are, I must say they are sort of cute. I could see my kids taking their pet Flint Beetle for a walk. Oh, what am I saying? I think this planet is starting to get to my brain...

The juices dropped by this beast can be used as great jam alternatives, try using them on your morning biscuits!

The Iridescent Flint Beetle is a harmless enemy appearing in Pikmin Eco, and one of the few enemies that are found in every aboveground area in the game. It scurries around at high speeds and drops nectar and pellets when struck from above, so although difficult to hit it is beneficial to try and attack it.

Notes

Sagittarius' notes

Place in a tank akin to a hamster's pen, with tubes attached to the sides in an interconnected network. Layer with mulch along the bottom, then throw in liberal clippings of grass for the beetle to hide in. Feed with standard food pellets and clean the cage regularly.

Libra's notes

Although hard and tough, this beetle's shell shimmers like a beautiful stone. It's a perfect substitute for refined jade in jewelrycraft!

Charlie's notes

Essentially, this creature is invincible; attacking it just triggers it to spit out pellets and other foodstuffs. Luckily, it's not hostile, although Pikmin do go crazy for it.

Derrick's notes

The creature's stomach makes for a perfect holding cell for small creatures, especially those of the mandiblard family. The membrane generated by the stomach enzymes can hold all sorts of potions and keep them preserved for months.
