The Marine Slapvipe is an enemy in Pikmin: Shipwrecked Stargazers. It resembles a banded sea krait, with white skin and darker bands. It has two nose tubes, massive tusk-like teeth, blue eyes, and a yellow sack on its chin not unlike the Rootroosting Slapvipe's inflatable head pouch. When it gets close to leaders and Blue Pikmin, it will swim towards them whilst inhaling the surrounding water, exhaling it from its blowhole-like orifice. If Pikmin are also caught in this torrent, they'll be eaten by the Marine Slapvipe. It can also inflate its throat pouch with ink, rear its head down, and shoot the ink at the Pikmin, inciting panic amongst them.

Notes

Olimar's notes

Marine slapvipes live a life partially in water, but gradually move closer to land as they age. Unique amongst reptiles is the presence of an ink sac near its cheek, an organ usually only found in cephalopods. Due to the way its head and neck are articulated, it has to rear its head down in order to let ink flow through its breathing orifices, of which it has four. These include the windpipe, nostrils, and blowhole.

Louie's notes

Peel away all of its placoid scales and spit roast over an open flame. The ink will seep into its body and provide it with a naturally spicy flavor.

Ship's comments

Ink is already a deal breaker for me, but considering how this creature expells it, who's to say it's not actually alien phlegm!? Olimar should be ashamed of himself for not cleansing it! No wait... he's going out of his way to help me... Olimar should actually have his next paycheck cut instead, that's less upsetting I think.
