The Pellet Posy is a species of plant that crystallizes its nectar into pellets, which are dropped when the plant is broken down. Some Pellet Posies' pellets change color at regular intervals, though the color is fixed when the plant is destroyed. After a pellet posy is taken down, it disappears, returning the next day as a small stub that grows over time and eventually matures. Hitting a Pellet Posy's pellet will usually instantly destroy the plant, but there are some exceptions depending on the size of the pellet. In Pikmin 1 and Pikmin 2, all Pellet Posies have the same amount of integrity regardless of the size of the pellet they bear. In Pikmin 3, Pellet Posies that bear larger pellets are themselves larger and take more effort to destroy.

Use Gives pellets

The Pellet Posy is a returning pellet weed appearing in Pikmin 2... Again?. They resemble their Pikmin 3 and Pikmin 4 incarnations, being a flower-like plant with 12 white petals each ending on a bluish tint and having a green stem with four leaves. In its center rests a pellet that can be a 1-pellet, 5-pellet, 10-pellet, rainbow pellet, or even a 20-pellet. The pellets of the Pellet Posy can be attacked by Pikmin, and enough damage makes the pellet fall. For the 1-pellet, the impact of a thrown Pikmin will instantly make the pellet fall. While the Pellet Posies only produce red, yellow, blue, and light-gray pellets, after the game is completed 100% or in non-story game modes, the Pellet Posies start to produce colors of pellets never seen before for the types without a Onion, except for the Bulbmin, Glow Pikmin, and Walking Golden Pikpik Carrot, those being, purple, white, pink, gray, cyan, green, brown, lavender, black, orange, almond, and, exclusive to the Timed Mode, periwinkle.

Notes

Olimar's observations

Yep, it's a Pellet Posy. What is there to say about these things? The only thing worth mentioning is that, for once, I can see a yellow pellet on my journey before a red one. Of all the plants on this planet, these are still some of the least understood. What makes them change color based on the Pikmin nearby! Perhaps these are more closely related to the Pikmin species than I once thought.

Notes

Olimar's notes

In the stem of the pellet posy, one can observe the muscle fiber unique to half-plant, half-animal species such as the Pikmin and candypop flowers, so the pellet posy is a species that can be considered a close relative. Although the ability to crystallize nectar is unique to a small group of the pellet weed family, the fact that these plants reach maturity so quickly and that their pellets contain such high concentrations of the natural nutrients in the soil explains why the Pikmin and so many of the other indigenous species are so reliant on these pellets for sustenance.

Louie's notes

On the quest for the perfect hors d'oeuvre? Slow cook this plant in a wood-fire oven, but be careful to only serve the tender pellet, as the rest of the plant will taste mediocre.

Notes

Olimar's notes

These plants help Pikmin reproduce. What good they do to other creatures is unknown. I wonder how two large pellets could fit in an iridescent glint beetle at times, though. Or how the stalk can lift up a heavy pellet.

Ship's notes

How these plants grow is just confusing. But the colors... Red... Yellow... Blue... Red... Yellow... Blue... Red... Yellow... Blue... Purple... White... Teal... Fuchsia... I think I'm getting sick... how... ERROR!

Pellet Posies appear in Pikmin: Connection of the Worlds. When an Onion seed is fully grown, the pellets of Pellet Posies will begin occasionally turning the color of that particular Onion. At the beginning of any day, there is a one-in-seventy-five chance that any existing 2o-Pellet Posy will yield a 50-pellet instead of its usual pellet size. The only known 100-pellet is that of the diabolical Giga Peeking Pelletonium, which only appears at the Ancient Valley every twenty days, starting from day forty-one.

Notes

Olimar's notes

Pellet Posies belong to a class of plants that also exhibit animal attributes. Also in this class are Chrysanthemums, and even the Pikmin themselves. Pellet Posies scatter their seeds by encasing them within crystallized nectar molded into the shape of a large patty. Known as a pellet, this object can be produced by the plant numerous times over the course of the day. This leads to the Pellet Posy becoming a reliable source of nutrients all across PNF-404.

Louie's notes

Cook this plant using a masonry oven until tender. Discard the stem and petals before serving, as they're largely inedible minus the succulent juices that they secrete when they cook. These juices seep into the pellet as it is prepared, improving the already sweet taste. The end result? A grade-A appetizer!

Ship's comments

Notes

Olimar's notes

This species tends to crystallize some kind of nectar into a pellet. How it produces the nectar is yet unclear. Another anomaly that occurs is that it is able to form a "1" or a "5", without prior knowledge of Hocotatian arithmetic. Truly confounding!
