PikHacks Week refers to a span of seven days in which PikHacker released a series of simple Pikmin 2 ROM hacks, one per day, starting Tuesday, April 25th, 2022 and ending Sunday, May 1st, 2022. PikHacker created five of the hacks, Captain Salty and Sleepy Jirachi having individually created the remaining two. Allegedly, the involved hacks of PikHacker's were old, forgotten projects. The trailer of each hack is included in its respective game's section.

Day one

Pikmin 2: Endless Abyss takes place in a cave that has no end, as its name would suggest, and is inspired by that of the same name in Pikmin 251. Olimar and Louie begin with twenty Red Pikmin, Yellow Pikmin, and Blue Pikmin, and heal one-fifth of their maximum health for each sublevel they pass. The layouts of each sublevel become more complex and challenging as progress is made, them becoming larger and having more content. Additionally, boss fights, although sparse, take place in unique arenas. Pikmin 2: Endless Abyss, according to its creator, PikHacker, serves as a preview for upcoming content in Pikmin 2: Colossal Caverns.

1.1
  • Added the ability to press GCN Start.png while the Nintendo logo is present on the booting screen to access the title screen and adjust settings. Doing so correctly causes a sound effect to play.
  • Added the ability to skip treasure cutscenes.
  • Made the file select menu properly display the treasure and Poko count.
  • Made Queen Candypop Buds able to appear randomly on any sublevel.
  • Made Bulbmin able to appear rarely on any sublevel 30 and beyond.
  • Made enemies that spawn in dead ends fall from above more often than be on the ground.
  • Made the watery cave units of the soil theme half as common as the others.
  • Made boss and rest sublevels slightly more common.
  • Made an escape geyser spawn on sublevel 4,294,967,295, the highest numerical value the game can handle.
  • Adjusted candypop bud spawn rates to make Ivory Candypop Buds as common as the rest.
  • Adjusted the tiers of Red Bulborbs and Hairy Bulborbs, by swapping them.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented progression past a sublevel's loading screen.
  • Fixed a bug causing the user interface to fail to display all digits on the sublevel counter of sublevels 100 and beyond.
  • Fixed a bug that broke sublevel layouts when resetting the game on sublevels 128 and beyond.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented Violet Candypop Buds and Ivory Candypop Buds from spawning when enough of their respective Pikmin type are on the field.
    • Prior to version 1.1, an Action Replay code was the solution to this issue. It is:

04253f04 2c000008
04253f68 38600006
04253f58 38800006
04254040 2c000006
04253f74 2c000032

  • Fixed a bug causing the wrong plants to generate in boss sublevels.
  • Fixed a rare bug preventing the hole to the next sublevel from spawning, by removing itemless dead ends.

Day two

In Pikmini, every leader, Pikmin, enemy, treasure, Onion, and even the ship are reduced to a fraction of their normal size. Because of this, areas and caves feel several times larger, and carrying even a single object to the ship, on the surface, can take an entire in-game day. Throws are charged by holding a Pikmin, which is required to reach some elevated treasures and enemies.

Day three

Quickmin, also spelled as Quikmin, has no story mode cutscenes and few Challenge Mode cutscenes, much faster menu transitions and option selections, and leaders, Pikmin, enemies, and objects moving at twice their normal speeds. When a treasure is collected, the ship's pod flies on-screen and announces its name in real-time, during gameplay, exactly like in Pikmin 2: Colossal Caverns. The only opportunities to save the game are when entering a cave and when repaying the debt. On day one, it is possible to skip directly to sunset, which is required to continue gameplay.

Day four

Main article: Pikmin 2: Multiplayer Edition

The fourth hack released during PikHacks Week is an update to Pikmin 2: Multiplayer Edition, released after eighteen months of development. In it, the following changes have been made: fullscreen can be toggled through codes for all players together or individually, all custom leader models from Pikmin 2: Colossal Caverns are usable, colored nametags are present above each player to easily identify them, the heads-up display has been improved in both full-screen and split-screen, cutscenes switch to a normal camera and pause gameplay for either every player or only the player that triggered it, and sound effects play correctly for all players.

Day five

Pikmin 2: Playable Enemies allows players to control any enemy they encounter, by whistling them and then pressing GCN L.png. While controlling an enemy, pressing GCN A.png, GCN B.png, and GCN Y.png causes it to perform certain actions, and pressing GCN X.png releases it from the player's control. The game supports two players in story mode, and to activate two-player mode, GCN Start.png must be pressed on the second controller while the Nintendo logo is present on the booting screen. If done successfully, a sound effect plays. In two-player mode, player two's leader follows player one's leader and can control enemies in the same way as player one. Day one can not be completed in two-player mode, so using a save file past that point is recommended.

Day six

To do: See if any of the enemies have new names, especially the Titan Dweevil, and detail the Titan Dweevil.

The first of two hacks made by someone other than PikHacker is Pikmin 2: Yellow Edition, by Captain Salty. The only Pikmin available, for the most part, are Yellow Pikmin, as there are no Red Pikmin, Blue Pikmin, or White Pikmin, although Purple Pikmin and Bulbmin are occasionally accessible. Onions are absent, severely limiting how Pikmin can be propagated; because of this, Pikmin are stored in the ship. Because of this and the fact enemy corpses melt in plasm, Queen Candypop Buds are the only way to propagate more Pikmin. New puzzles are present, treasures are more difficult to collect, and enemies are harder to fight. The Titan Dweevil can be fought using Bulbmin, and its weapons have new effects. Pikmin 2: Yellow Edition was originally intended to be released on April Fool's Day of 2022, but its release was delayed.

Day seven

Main article: Pikmin 2: Man-at-Legs Testing Facility

The seventh and final ROM hack of PikHacks Week is Man-at-Legs Testing Facility, by ProfessionalNubTub and Sleepy Jirachi. The goal is to defeat over twenty Man-at-Legs variants that dwell within a cave. Because they are Challenge Mode stages, there are no checkpoints, so failure results in needing to restart the entire cave.
