In Pikmin: Connection of the Worlds, the Puffire is a reoccurring miniboss first fought as the boss of Magmatic Cavern. It can produce fire from underneath its cap and by merely moving about, but its most dangerous attack is that it can spew out tiny bomb rocks. These bomb rocks detonate upon impact with anything. The Puffire becomes faster as its health depletes, making it more difficult to damage and its attacks harder to avoid. When its health reaches critical levels, as a last resort, the Puffire will summon five Puffstools to assist it and serve as distractions. Upon death, the Puffire flips onto its cap, which its body collapses into. Magmatic Cavern's Puffire drops the Magma Air Conditioner upon death.

The Puffire is a reoccurring sporovid boss in Pikspore. It strongly resembles the Puffstool but is twice as large and has a dark red cap, a black body, and orange-yellowish feet. The first encounter with a Puffire takes place in Scorch Cavern. It runs from leaders and Pikmin, leaving a trail of flames in its wake, and defends itself by shooting multiple fireballs in all directions as it spins in-place. Another Puffire is fought at the bottom of Magma Mantle, where its arena is surrounded by a moat of lava. Magma Mantle's Puffire has a special attack where it jumps up and then smashes into the ground, causing cracks to appear in the ground, and can also summon Folaggs to assist it in battle. These cracks periodically spew jets of fire and disappear after ten real-world seconds have passed. Two Puffires are fought at once in Challenger's Cavern. Red Pikmin are recommended to fight Puffires with, and when killed, they melt into a pile of ash and red goop, leaving behind whatever they were holding.
