In Pikspore, the Sonic Bulblax is a grub-dog and its dwarf counterpart is the Dwarf Sonic Bulblax. It resembles the Fiery Bulblax but is not melted in appearance. It has a jagged maw, a pink face, a purple backside featuring pink spines, and red eyes. Sonic Bulblaxes do not sleep and instead wander around the areas in which they are found, typically followed by Dwarf Sonic Bulblaxes also in the area. A Sonic Bulblax attacks by eating Pikmin and biting leaders, and when at a distance, firing a powerful sonic wave from its mouth at them. On impact, this sonic wave knocks back and stuns Pikmin and leaders, additionally reducing the maturity of affected Pikmin to the leaf stage. Any Pikmin that do not get up in time may be eaten by the Sonic Bulblax. Pikmin and leaders that are thrown back by a sonic wave can be knocked into other hazards. Swarming a Sonic Bulblax with large groups of Pikmin is effective against it, although simply throwing them onto the creature and recalling them when necessary may be wiser. Should Purple Pikmin be available, they should be thrown rapidly onto the creature's back to stun it and subdue it in record time.
