Spotcaps are a type of fungus that can be of varying sizes and is usually found in tight groups, typically near Kingcaps, blocking passageways, although they are sometimes isolated and out of the way. Pikmin that are issued to attack a Spotcap pummel it until it shrivels up and disappears, but Pikmin that are thrown on top of a Spotcap crush the fungus, destroying it.

In Pikmin Bloom, Spotcaps, as well as Kingcaps, are the focus of mushroom challenges. In addition to having several different colors of caps, both types of fungus have variants engulfed in fire, water, and crystal.

Spotcaps appear in Pikmin: Infection in Progress alongside Kingcaps. They grow infrequently at Polluted Creek, Noxious Expanse, Toxic Barrens, and Withering Terrace, but are incredibly common at Fungal Grotto. Due to the plague spreading across the Distant Planet, mushrooms have spread immensely, especially underground. Destroying a Spotcap makes it shrivel and disappear.
