Attacks Poisons Pikmin

Twilight Spectralids appear in Pikmin: Return. They fly about and produce the same noises as other spectralids, but they will glow pink when in a cave, or outside near sunset. Twilight Spectralids take two hits from Pikmin to defeat, and when they are hit, they aggressively squeal and flap their wings harder to shower attackers below them in poisonous powder that can endanger and kill all Pikmin except White Pikmin. Upon death, a cloud of poison dust will burst from the Twilight Spectralid as its body falls to the ground. It can be brought back to the Onion for five seeds if it is given to the Winged Pikmin, and it will give three seeds to any other color. A larger, more dangerous variant of this enemy is known as the Greater Twilight Spectralid.

Notes

Olimar's notes

This spectralid has evolved a natural defense against predators by making its scales poisonous. These scales can also be conveniently scattered around the air if it is being swarmed by predators. These scales, unfortunately, are harmful if inhaled by most other lifeforms, including pikmin, hocotations, and koppaites. These spectralids can also take two direct hits by pikmin while airborne. Another interesting thing about these spectralids is that they let off a dim, purplish glow that attracts winged pikmin.

Louie's notes

Inedible. Will cause severe stomach aches... Ouch...

Alph's notes

This remarkable spectralid gives off a dim pink glow. It is quite beautiful when in a dim environment. Speaking of environments, this spectralid chooses a dark cave or a hollow tree trunk to reside in, in contrast to most other spectralids, which choose bright areas to live in or on.

Ship's notes

This spectralid must be contained in a very secure and airtight container, as its poisonous powder might contaminate any cargo that is near it... It also flaps around violently when captured, as if trying to escape or attack... Maybe this is its form of attacking...

Attacks Eats Pikmin

In Pikmin: Sinister Incinerator, Twilight Spectralids are similar to Unmarked Spectralids, though discovering a fray of them is much more unpleasant. They swoop down to swarm Pikmin, eating those unprotected. They are just as frail as Unmarked Spectralids, meaning even a single thrown Pikmin is sufficient in killing them. Because of their behavior, Twilight Spectralids are more dangerous when a leader and their Pikmin are preoccupied with another enemy.
