Wind is a hazard in the canonical Pikmin games. The most common sources of wind are from airborne blowhogs, although other sources of wind exist. Depending on its strength, wind can push, knock down, or forcefully blow away leaders and most Pikmin types. Some types of wind may have additional or different effects. Purple Pikmin are completely unaffected by wind, save for any extra effects it may have.

Wind is also present as part of weather in some fan-made games.

Wind is an uncommon hazard in Pikmin: Wide World. Purple Pikmin are resistant to it because of their immense weight, and the Wondrous Windbreaker grants leaders total immunity to its effects. Depending on its strength and the distance from those hit by it, wind can push Pikmin around, knock them over, or blow them a distance away, with Winged Pikmin being the most susceptible to it. Wind can also have additional effects, some being unfavorable and one being beneficial. Weather can cause wind to blow throughout an area, causing vegetation and other loose elements to sway in the breeze.

Flourishing Blowhogs blow a green-colored wind that can push Pikmin over and instantly increase their maturities to the flower stage. Poisonous Blowhogs can knock Pikmin over with their purple-colored wind. Puffy Blowhogs can blow Pikmin away, but Puffy Blowlets merely push them around. Withering Blowhogs and Withering Blowlets blow pink-colored wind that reverts the maturities of Pikmin it hits to the leaf stage, and the wind blown by Withering Blowhogs can push Pikmin over while the wind blown by Withering Blowlets merely pushes them around. Lastly, Immaculate Whiskerflies can vigorously flap its wings to generate a gust of wind that pushes Pikmin back.
