The Abandoned Toybox is the first cave explored in the Wistful Wild in Pikmin 251, and the first explored in the game. It is short and serves primarily as a tutorial on cave exploration much like the Emergence Cave from Pikmin 2. There are P2 Poko icon.png × 570 to gain from the three treasures here. No bosses are present in the Abandoned Toybox, but some dwarf bulborbs call this cave home. Together, enemies are worth between P2 Poko icon.png × 24 and P2 Poko icon.png × 44, depending on how many Mitites appear.

How to reach

The entrance is found in a corner northeast of the landing site, near the Overgrown Parasol. To reach it, a paper bag must be weighed down by forty Yellow Pikmin, the only Pikmin available at this point, if clearing another bag that needs seventy Pikmin to weigh down is undesired. Beyond them are the first enemies capable of harming Pikmin. With minimum casualties and optimal preparation, around seventy Pikmin should be available to bring into the Abandoned Toybox on day two.

Sublevel 1

After an introduction cutscene, Dwarf Painted Bulborbs are found scattered throughout a dark room, although they are not particularly dangerous. Both treasures are found in alcoves.

Sublevel 2

The casino theme is first introduced here, alongside Orange Pikmin and their respective candypop bud. Sublevel two presents the only mandatory use of these Pikmin, in the form of unique explosion-producing obstacles known as blast pipes. Pikmin will perish on contact with the orange energy produced by these pipes, and leaders can be flung around by them. Once disabled, the Whimsical Radar can easily be claimed and the cave navigated with little hassle. The newly acquired Orange Pikmin will remain underground while the main squad exits, much like juvenile Bulbearmin. The reason, as explained by Hocotate ship, has to do with the fact that the space for Pikmin in the ship's hull after having already designated it for White Pikmin and Purple Pikmin, despite neither having been rediscovered at this point.
