The Affliction is a rather elusive sporovid in Pikmin: Dual Worlds that can attach itself to the bodies of other creatures. It is a somewhat amorphous sporovid best described as a tough, spongy mass of tannish-purple flesh coated in small barbs and tendrils. It can't survive very long without a host, and the host tends to have a better chance of survival when it is infected with an Affliction. Similarly to the main species, the Reprobate, an Affliction attacks by shooting spore-filled projectiles at prey or using long tendrils to grab them. They can survive if rooted into the ground, but that isn't a very viable option in some areas of their habitat due to Bygone tendrils, and they're less capable of protecting themselves that way. Afflictions have a carry weight of between three and ten inclusive depending on their size, and when connected to a host, that weight is added to that of the host's body.
