The Alimona is a species of sand comber appearing in Pikmin Rebirth. They are slug-like mollusks with a single eye and an earthly-colored shell. They are rare creatures appearing on coastlines, where they dot the beach. Alimonae are timid creatures, as they bury themselves if they hear a loud sound such as an explosion and scuttle away when threatened before once again burying themselves. As they are so big and heavy, they are quite slow, so it's easy to chase one down. White Pikmin are best to hunt this rare find as they are able to unearth the buried shell, and the only way it can defend itself is by blowing bubbles. The biggest danger Alimonae possess is that their shell can be easily confused for that of the far more deadly Cone Wraith; while the two creatures' shells look almost identical, the Cone Wraith's shell is more brightly colored. With that in mind, hunting these creatures is very simple, and boasts handsome rewards as the mollusk yields a large number of seeds and sparklium when harvested.

Notes

Magdalene's journal

You know, my homeworld never had such a docile beach, well, docile compared to the many other dangerous places of this world. It makes me wish we do, as I could imagine myself sleeping under the shade of one of these massive shells... if only I could wish. I do miss my home... I just hope everyone is okay.

Azure's salvage logs

This earthly shell can provide some nice warm tones to tie a beach house together. It seems these creatures know about color theory.

Lenin's cooking tips

  • Calories per serving: 100
  • Serving size: 7-inch bowl
  • Preparation time: 5 hours

A no-thrills meal can be made out of this mollusk. It's as simple as putting some spices and veggies into the meat, melting it down, then serving it as soup. Nothing complicated, but simple in both preparation and flavor.

Ivy's biology logs

A filter feeder, this rare mollusk absorbs the surrounding sands to ingest any algae located within; anything else is dispelled at the back end. This is not only an effective feeding method but also a good camouflage as it allows the shell to be half-buried, disguising it as a simple rock to most animals. To people like me, however, you're not fooling anybody as the shell is just different enough to make it out of the ordinary.

Indy's strategy guide

I can't hurt this gentle creature. It serves absolutely no threat, it just hides solemnly. I almost wish that the creature didn't have so much value. That is life, maybe sometimes being attractive can be a bad trait.
