The Asterlarva appears in Pikmin: The Space Odyssey. Theorized to be born from eggs, Asterlarvae eventually develop into Astermites after a long metamorphosis, which they use their many fatty body segments for. They are relatively harmless except during their prime growing stage as that is when they produce space sludge, a nasty toxic fluid that harms all except Void Pikmin because of their natural resistance to and ability to breathe in it.

- “The asterarch family is a species of space-dwelling insects. Members resort to having very hard shells to protect themselves from the vacuum of space. The reason that their skin is blue but their blood is green is that it is so cold in space that it freezes their blood, so they have to have their blood temperature raised to 240 degrees Fahrenheit, thus changing their color.”
