The Baleen Bulblax is a species of aquatic grub-dog appearing in Pikmin: Neo as an extremely large species of bulblax living at the surface of large oceans. They are both the largest and one of the rarest species encountered, making them extremely sought after. They spend their time peacefully drifting the ocean currents, occasionally spraying water from their blowhole. During the day, they tend to group with other marine animals, even allowing some to ride their back. During the night, they dive below and sleep in hidden underwater caves. Although Baleen Bulblaxes don't target Pikmin deliberately, they can be swept into the creatures' open mouths while they suck in large amounts of algae and plankton. The weakpoint of any Baleen Bulblax is its forehead, but due to it being so large, it is possible to walk on top of the grub-dog and attack its head bumps to incapacitate it, drowning it in the process. Avoid the blowhole of the bulblax while attacking this area, as it constantly spews streams of water and mud; the water can push Pikmin into the ocean, and the mud can smother Pikmin. The bulblax can also be assisted by several flying creatures such as Swooping Snitchbugs and other marine animals such as the Water Dumple. Blue Pikmin are best to attack this creature as they are immune to the water spouts, although they should still avoid the mud. When killed, the Baleen Bulblax flips over and drowns, requiring at least one hundred Pikmin to carry, making its its corpse the heaviest carriable one.

Notes

Olimar's notes

The largest species of grub-dog, this organism is a landmass in the shape of an animal. Living in oceans, these creatures live a solitary lifestyle away from other members of their species. It feeds on algae and often lives near smaller marine creatures to help clean the parasites off it. It's strange to see one of the largest animals on the planet being also one of the most docile as well.

Louie's notes

This meat is too tough for steaks but can be dried into jerky. Can feed an entire community, as long as they can handle the cholesterol.
