These are some strange, colorful bugs... but still bugs! Gross! Squish them! – The ship, upon discovering the Biddygrub

The Biddygrub is an enemy that appears in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. The creature is quite rare, and can mainly be found in the deepest of caves. Biddygrubs resemble standard sheargrubs in shape and size, being very small. However, unlike most mandiblards, these creatures are extremely smooth and shiny. Each Biddygrub has a small mouth and two, beady eyes at the front of their head. They come in a variety of colors, those being red, yellow, orange, green, blue, purple, and pink. The creatures always appear in a group of seven and are always arranged color-wise front to back in that order.

Biddygrubs will always be found following each other closely, in a straight line. Upon being discovered by Pikmin, they will begin to move much faster, suddenly forming a constantly moving circle pattern around the squad. Although the attack is completely harmless, it can be annoying. Along with this, Biddygrubs will move around in intricate patterns in threatened, forming the shapes of triangles, circles, and stars around Pikmin.

Killing Biddygrubs is extremely easy. Just five hits from one Pikmin will ensure their death. Any type can be used against them, and they have no weaknesses or strengths. Overall, Biddygrubs are mere distractions with their intricate and beautiful patterns, allowing for enemies to attack.

In Overlord mode, Biddygrubs will always double in number in any place they appear in, usually resulting in groups of fourteen.

Olimar's notes

These strange Mandiblards always travel in packs. The color they are born in depends on which colors mate, meaning that primary color Biddygrubs are much more common than other colors. When threatened, the Biddygrubs will begin to move around in hypnotic patterns, confusing any large prey that witness their spectacle. This gives them time to escape underground.

Louie's notes

After numerous test runs, it has been confirmed that Biddygrubs do not have their own fruit flavors for each color. They all taste like salsa chips.

President’s notes

This bug might come in handy! Trying to make me pay my taxes? Well, get hypnotized by my Biddygrubs! Ha!

Overlord’s thoughts

Such a strange insect... I wonder how they haven’t gone extinct by now. I guess I shouldn’t underestimate their dancing capabilities if even the most ferocious of Bulblaxes fall for them.

Biddygrubs are brightly-colored mandiblards that resemble Swarming Sheargrubs in both shape and behavior. They are harmless and docile creatures that travel in organized packs, usually in the formation of a line or circle. They can be red, yellow, green, blue, or pink, and at least one of each color comprises part of a swarm of Biddygrubs. They are inspired by Biddybuds, an enemy appearing in the Super Mario franchise.
