Attacks Eats Pikmin, crushes Pikmin with landslides

The Boulder Starsnout is a burrowing, rodent-like boss appearing in Pikmin Z. Despite its appearance, it is in the same family as the Bearded Amprat and Naked Amprat, and it bears a resemblance to the real-world star-nosed mole. Its fur is grey, it has a raccoon-like "mask" around its eyes, and it has black patches on its front claws. It has adopted a subterranean lifestyle, is capable of creating landslides from its molehill, and can jump out of the ground to eat Pikmin it is under after it burrows. Its diet consists of small animals, and its predators are snagrets.

The Boulder Starsnout is encountered and fought at the summit of a tall hill, possibly made by the animal itself. The fight against the Boulder Starsnout revolves around reaching the top of the hill while avoiding having leaders and Pikmin getting crushed by the landslides it creates. Once the summit is reached, Pikmin can be thrown onto the creature until it shakes them off and throws its attackers to the base of the hill. The Boulder Starsnout may occasionally burrow underground to attack Pikmin from below. Continue climbing the molehill and attacking the creature until its eventual defeat.

Notes

Piklopedia entry

This odd animal is thought to have lost its ability to produce electricity in return for adopting a subterranean lifestyle. It is theorized that the strange appendages on the tip of its snout are used to better locate prey underground and above the surface. While it is a predator to many, snagrets prey on them regularly, and one above ground is vulnerable to many other predators.
