Bouncy Mushrooms are large mushrooms that have elastic red caps and can grow to various heights. Leaders and Pikmin bounce from their caps upon contact with them, and the angle of the mushroom's cap and the direction of the throw determines where they land. Some Bouncy Mushrooms sway back and forth.

Family Bumperstool

The Bouncy Mushroom is a species of bumperstool in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. They resemble large, elastic mushrooms with peach stems, and large, red caps. The cap of a Bouncy Mushroom is flat on the top, and has a darker red complexion, with white dots along the sides. The Bouncy Mushroom may vary in size depending on the area it’s found in.

Bouncy Mushrooms will bounce anything that steps on it, be they Pikmin, captains, or enemies. If Pikmin or captains are thrown on the mushroom, they will bounce and be sent to another point nearby. Sometimes, the bumperstool will bounce Pikmin to another bumperstool, depending on how the area is laid out. Pikmin carrying corpses and treasures can also use Bouncy Mushrooms, as long as the mushroom is close to the edge for them to walk on.

Notes

Olimar's notes

The Bouncy Mushroom... is bouncy, as its name suggests. They have more of an elastic form, as they are covered in a thick layer of rubbery, fungal coating. This layer of rubber will secret constant pheromones that attract insects or other small animals to it. When they end up trying to climb on this fungus, its bouncy top will send them flying to another area, however now covered in the Bumperstool’s spores. It’s a very clever way of spreading their seed.

Louie's notes

Very, very chewy. The cap is inedible. But the stem? It has a lot of flavor. Sear them on the grill to give them a delicious charcoal flavoring, and dip in a pea purée for an exceptional mushroom dish.

President’s notes

I hate walking long distances. See what I’m getting at? I just need to take some of these mushrooms home with me, and I can be bouncing all over Hocotate! Maybe I’ll make it an attraction.

Overlord’s thoughts

Is it wrong to drop small animals on this mushroom so I can watch them go flying across the land? It’s pretty funny. Maybe a bit cruel...
