Cave Creator, later known as Cave Creator+ and then Cave Creator v2, is an application made by Jimble. It is used to, with ease, create, and later also share, user-made caves to be played in Pikmin 2.

  • Added the ability to create lighting files using an intuitive color slider.
  • Added the ability to generate random enemies, bosses, decorations, and dropped treasures.
  • Added the ability to remove all entities or only selected entities from the add entity menu.
  • Added a button in the sublevel properties menu to manually implement custom cave unit and lighting files. Note that this process is automatic when using the lighting designer menu.
  • Adjusted the layouts of the add new entity and sublevel properties menus to accommodate the new features.
  • Removed the background image from the sublevel properties menu, allowing it to load instantly.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented being unable to add a Greater Spotted Jellyfloat to a sublevel by clicking its button in the add entity menu.
  • Adjusted the names of vanilla lighting files to reflect their internal names.
  • Added a link next to the lighting selection menu that leads to a selection of screenshots showcasing every used and unused vanilla lighting file.
  • Fixed a bug where selecting Rest as the sublevel's theme in the sublevel properties menu would mutually result in silence until a boss fight.
  • Removed the limit of the maximum room count and the corridor to room ratio. Larger sublevels result in a label appearing, warning that there is a high chance of crashing in-game due to RAM limitations.
  • Made general design improvements.
  • Made various optimizations and improved efficiency, despite the file size increasing by around eight megabytes.
  • Readded the ability to add several instances of the same treasure.
  • Added the ability to easily remove selected entities by pressing the delete key.
  • Adjusted the bar at the top of the main menu to display a window providing details of the current version, along with Nintendo trademark and copyright information.
  • Fixed a bug from versions 1.2 and 1.2.1 causing a crash upon opening a project file.
  • Fixed a bug from version 1.2.2 causing the count value to display incorrectly when attempting to remove a selected entity.
  • Adds a feature for users with advanced technical knowledge to manually fix a small mistake using a text box. When enabled, the text box turns black with white text.
  • Adjusted how gates are added, as the program asks to input a value between one and nine inclusive. Before, the value would be set at zero, and the gate would fail to generate.
  • Removed the one-entity limit of how many treasures an entity drops upon death.
  • Fixed the capitalization errors in the internal names of the Withering Blowhog, buried Armored Cannon Beetle Larva, and Decorated Cannon Beetle.

  • Adjusted the main, options, treasure, and gate menus to be smaller and more simplistic.
  • Adjusted the color of the Cave Net button to be white in dark mode.

  • Added the following to Cave Net:
    • The ability to add thumbnails, descriptions, bonus challenges to caves;
    • A favorites menu, wherein caves are saved locally to be enjoyed again later;
    • A new user interface.

  • Added the following to Cave Net:
    • The ability to post a comment to a cave;
    • The ability to give a cave flowers, the equivalent of a like on social media platforms;
    • Weekly Caves, where moderators select their favorite caves to showcase to the community.
March 1st, 2019
  • Added a countdown for the new Weekly Caves in Cave Net.
  • Made several adjustments to the interface; in particular, improvements to Cave Net cave descriptions.

  • Made Cave Net ensure it is running the latest version of Cave Creator before proceeding.

  • Readded the list of supporters, accessible from the about menu.
  • Made several user interface adjustments, including much more refined import and export menus.
  • Made buttons use the default cursor rather than the hand cursor.

  • Added the ability to duplicate sublevels while editing a cave.
  • Added support for custom directory routes. It is found in the options menu.

  • Made every window resizeable. The components within adjust accordingly.
  • Made the layout design more consistent.
  • Reduced the file size from fifty megabytes to eight megabytes merely by removing unused images.
November 26th, 2019
  • Removed the option to set a spawn distribution weight for plants and decorations.
  • Fixed a bug where loading a cave while already in a sublevel's entities menu would mix up both caves' entities.
  • Updated the title screen.

  • Updated the user interface to resemble Animal Crossing: New Horizons's.
