The Diamond Pikmin appears in Pikmin: New Generations. Their discovery on day five is an eventful one, as defeating a bulborb that ate a glowing mushroom and grew to five times its regular size is required for Olimar to notice, atop a big cliff, a strange, light blue Onion next to a Drojel, a creature that's skin surges with electricity and requires the Yellow Pikmin discovered on day two to defeat. After the Drojel is defeated, it spits out five Diamond Pikmin that then must be thrown onto a nearby platform. Once this is done, a cutscene will begin, and it shows Olimar stepping onto a platform opposite, rising as the heavy Diamond Pikmin descend, allowing him to discover the Diamond Onion after he throws other Pikmin upward to free it.
Diamond Pikmin have small, hard bodies that make them durable despite being the size of White Pikmin. They are also very heavy and can carry five times their body weight, making for some interesting puzzle solutions. Also, because of their hard bodies, Diamond Pikmin can not be crushed or frozen. Their average height is twenty-five millimeters.
