First Step is fittingly the first cave explored in Pikmin: Other Frontier. As its name suggests, First Step contains the tracks of many small animals, giving the ground and paw print pattern. It is relatively simple in layout with few hazards, but collecting the final treasure is required to gain access to the map function and help locate the Lost Signal.

The landing spot is a small, square area. In the distance is a larger, round room populated mostly by small enemies.
Sublevel 2

- Male Sheargrub × 2
A Joustmite guards the Planetary Positioning System on a far-off ledge. Collecting the object grants access to the map function on the radar and opens up more of the Stump of Promise, allowing access to Lost Signal.
