The Formidable Toxicrab is the boss of Poison Pit in Pikmin: The War of the Pikmin Planet. It is abnormally large for its species, speculated to be a result of mutation, additionally supported by its demented eyes and distorted roars. Like all toxicrabs, it can spew fire and poison from its mouth, and it can crush Pikmin with its pincers. Additionally, after it flashes red, it attempts to inhale anything close to it, although it will be vulnerable after executing this attack. The only way to harm it is to attack the exposed part of its body. When its health is low, it periodically burrows into the ground, then pops up in another place, allowing it to ambush or corner its prey.

- “This large species of toxicrab appears to be a leader among its kind, commanding large groups of Digging Toxicrabs to hunt for food. However, it does not merely sit back and watch its underlings hunt for it, as it brutally attacks any prey that wanders into its territory. All Formidable Toxicrabs are known to be ruthless and cruel leaders, going as far as killing their own underlings if they are considered incompetent. Therefore, it appears that Digging Toxicrabs follow their leader out of fear, rather than respect.”
