The Frosted Mountains is the first area found in Pikmin: The Story Untold. The area has two mountains connected by icicle caverns.
Red Pikmin are the first Pikmin found in this area, inside an icicle cavern. Winged Pikmin are also found here, on the other mountain, and are the sixth Pikmin type discovered.
Plot
Once Olimar accidentally hits a part of the Hocotate ship 3.0 on the area's environment, he falls to some icicle caverns. Once that happens, he happens upon a Red Onion, which ejects a single Red Pikmin sprout that he plucks. Once again, Pikmin are on the brink of total extinction because of their incompetence. Olimar grows twenty Red Pikmin by defeating Dwarf Red Bulborbs and taking down Pellet Posies, bringing their bodies and pellets to the Red Onion. After building a bridge to the outside of the icicle caverns and collecting the Thirst-Emitting Emblem, Olimar and the twenty Red Pikmin get to their respective ships and the day ends.
