Frosty Flatlands is the first area in Puffmin Quest. It is a barren iceberg, with random objects encased within, that broke off from an ice sheet from either the south or north pole and drifted towards warmer waters within close distance to where the other areas are located. Captain Salty crash lands here after his navigation sent him off-course. Pepper, along with the ship's navigation system, was launched from Salty's ship upon a collision with a smaller iceberg during the crash landing. The area has unique fauna inhabiting it as most of the creatures found around it are not seen in any of the other areas, implying that the creatures are from a completely different ecosystem from somewhere else on the planet.
Caves
- Snowdrift Ditch
- The first cave found, Snowdrift Ditch is found beyond a paper bag preventing it from being accessed on the first day. It serves as a tutorial and as a preview of caves that will be visited in the future. It also introduces enemies that use hazards that Fiery Puffmin aren't immune to. The final treasure of this cave unlocks the next area, Unnerving Underground.
- Frosted Shipwreck
- Frosted Shipwreck is a mid-game cave that takes place within a miniature replica of a ship that is partially frozen inside of Frosty Flatlands.
- Slippery Trench
- Considered the final cave of the area, Slippery Trench is a much more challenging and longer version of Snowdrift Ditch that tests the skills of any who delve into it. The cave contains a much larger variety of enemies to fight off, along with much trickier sublevel layouts.
