Golden Bulbmin are species of Bulbmin appearing in Pikmin: Doomed Time. They are yellow in color, exceptionally rare, limited in number, and have electrical powers. They are found mostly underground, although they appear at the Landing Site on day thirty and beyond.
As Golden Bulbmin utilize electricity, Yellow Pikmin are necessary to defeat the adults and gain control of the juveniles. An adult Golden Bulbmin should be fought as if it were a normal Bulbmin, but beware that it will revive almost immediately after it dies and begin to move at roughly twice the speed it once did. The juveniles will remain calm, as if they anticipate this behavior. Once the adult Golden Bulbmin is defeated a second time, it stays down for good and the juvenile Golden Bulbmin will listen to a leader's whistle. Adult Golden Bulbmin may also be defeated using leaders if so desired. The electricity they produce is of no threat because of the Dream Material that was collected during the events of Pikmin 2, but their bites are still dangerous.
Juvenile Golden Bulbmin are notoriously special, as they have the special ability to charge up and release an electrical current that causes enemies to flee, panicking. They can be brought to the surface, but only a maximum of fifty juvenile Golden Bulbmin can be kept at a time due to them no longer appearing once that limit has been reached.
Notes
Olimar's notes
- “This intriguing creature's skin replicated the sheen gold has, as does the parasitic pikmin's, suggesting that it is, in fact, a different species of parasitic pikmin than what was seen in a bulbmin.”
Louie's notes
- “Dice up the whole beast, add sliced pikpik carrots, and cook for one hour, turning it every thirty minutes. Cook one egg until it's done then add the egg with the gold bulb a' la mode'. Your guests will never forget the flavor experience! I will never forget the bruises Pikness gave me for cooking them all.”
Pikness's notes
- “This creature is a very rare variety of bulbmin. It is probable that it is a young golden bulborb that was taken over by a species of parasitic pikmin entirely separate from bulbmin. This can be confirmed by dissection, however, attempts to do this have been fruitless as Louie has cooked most of our recovered specimens.”
