The Hanging Wiggler is a worm-like species appearing in Pikmin Eco 2, exclusively within the Misty Roots as the iconic foe of Green Pikmin. It has a long, thin body to mimic the vines within the area and is always found hanging upside-down from the canopy above. Part of its body is always hidden from view, leaving only the curved snout visible from the ground, when looking up.

It appears similar to the average swinging vines found throughout Misty Roots, indistinguishable from a regular vine except for its small eyes. Technically speaking, Hanging Wigglers are not as dangerous as typical wildlife as in they don't actively hunt Pikmin, but they begin to recoil upon sensing something hanging onto its snout. Leaders and Pikmin can swing off of a Hanging Wiggler, but if any Pikmin stays on for too long, it pulls them out of sight to consume them.

Notes

In-game entry

A rather uniquely adapted creature compared to the rest of its family group as it seems to completely evolve away from its subterranean lifestyle to live in treetops. Its snout is covered in highly sensitive fibers that alert the otherwise senseless wiggler of any prey that nudges against it. Scientists are still trying to better understand how it can remain upside down for such long periods, as it often just gives us headaches when we try doing that for more than five minutes.
