Legend shards are collectible objects in Pikmin: Attack of the Breadbugs that are required to reach and battle the final boss, the Galactic Breadbug. They are triangular in shape and rather small in size, and feature edges that protrude slightly outwards from either face. Each legend shard is unique in color and displays a symbol representing the hazard the legend shard itself represents. Six legend shards exist on PNF-404, all of them recoverable by Captain Olimar, although Pikmin are sometimes necessary in order for him to be able to grab them. In no particular order, the legend shards are novice, blazing, frozen, rusted, magnetic, and toxin. Legend shards are used similarly to keys to unlock a gate leading to the Galactic Breadbug. On either side of the gate, on the wall, are three triangular slots into which the legend shards fit perfectly, and below each slot is the symbol of the hazard a legend shard corresponds to. Once a legend shard is brought to this gate, it will float from Olimar's grasp and place itself tightly into its respective slot.
