The Man-at-Legs 9000, also known simply as the MaL 9000, is a highly advanced version of Man-at-Legs appearing in Pikmin: Sinister Incinerator, where it is fought only on the final sublevel of the Supercomputer Complex in the Forest Depths. Its arena resembles that of the Man-at-Legs' in the first encounter with it in Pikmin 2, although much larger and coated with unsettling chrome. The Man-at-Legs 9000 gets its shorter nickname from the Man-at-Legs' initials, and the name of HAL 9000, the antagonistic computer from the film 2001: A Space Odyssey.

The primary strategy for killing this foe involves hit-and-run tactics, although this is made difficult by the creature's plating, which nullifies damage directed towards it. The Man-at-Legs 9000 does, however, have a single weakpoint: its sole ocular receptor, which is protected by a lens, and opens only while scanning its surroundings for its targets. Open seeing its targets, the Man-at-Legs 9000 opens fire upon them with its three cannons, which all fire at the same spot in rapid succession, annihilating anything in the path of its explosive projectiles, including cover. Fortunately, the Man-at-Legs 9000 is limited in its target selection and chooses to attack only the active leader and their Pikmin; the current target can be determined by the receptor's color, which can be red for Olimar or blue for Louie. This can be taken advantage of by having one leader distract the Man-at-Legs 9000 while the other sneaks up on it from the side, although care must be taken to periodically switch the active leader. When close enough, aim well and at full force to damage and maybe even destroy the protective lens, which is surprisingly frail. The moment the lens is damaged, however, the cannons retract into the Man-at-Legs 9000's body and its receptor closes. It then begins to walk about for some moments before attacking again. Repeat the strategy as necessary, but be wary of its vitality: once its health reaches one-fourth, the creature will go berserk, its eye flashing green, and its cannons firing wildly in all directions as a last-ditch effort to destroy its prey. At this point, the creature will continually chase after the leaders and their Pikmin and must be fled from until it inevitably destroys itself simply by firing its weapons. Once it dies, it explodes violently. For a quicker battle, simply attack the lens and receptor whenever they are open, as the creature will not be able to retaliate until it goes berserk. Lastly, the receptor's initial color is always red, so Louie should initially approach the Man-at-Legs 9000 to get in a decent amount of damage.
