The Scarlet Candypop Bud is a candypop bud that appears in Pikmin 251. It behaves like other candypop buds, and when a Pikmin is thrown into one, it will produce an Orange Pikmin. Up to five Pikmin can be converted into Orange Pikmin using a Scarlet Candypop Bud before the plant withers away and disappears.

- “Today, we delved into a dark and quiet cave, but we found something truly remarkable in it regardless. This flower has the ability to sprout Orange Pikmin! These Pikmin can only survive underground, but their armored backs can protect them for explosions! These new Pikmin will be very helpful in fighting explosive foes, that is, if we're lucky enough to find these orange buds. I don't expect that they will be all that common...”

The Coral Candypop Bud is the second stage of an Orange Onion's growth in Pikmin I, after the Coral Candypop Leaf. It evolved in the same environments as Torch Pikmin, forcing them to also develop a resistance to lava and fire.
