Attacks Eats Pikmin

The Painted Bulborb is a grub-dog appearing in Pikmin 251. It is usually found sleeping unless it is disturbed, where it will return to its slumber shortly thereafter if it doesn't see a meal nearby. Much like the Orange Bulborb, the Painted Bulborb is a light sleeper and wakes up easily. They are also immune to the poison of White Pikmin. The Dwarf Painted Bulborb is its breadbug mimic.

The Painted Bulborb has a striking appearance, having teal skin, a purple rump with lavender spots, white fangs and nails, a red mouth with a pink tongue, and bright blue eyes on a pair of eyestalks. Its splotchy spots appear as if they were created by hand, giving the creature its name.

As Painted Bulborbs wake up when they're so much as approached, getting an advantage against one in battle can be difficult. Sneaking up behind it and rapidly throwing Pikmin onto its back is the most optimal way of defeating it. Continue piling Pikmin onto it to keep it busy with shaking them off again, calling them back when necessary, until the creature dies. If an attack against it fails, retreat until it falls asleep again and try again. As with all bulborbs, the Painted Bulborb should only be fought head-on as a last resort.

Notes

Olimar's observations

The Painted Bulborb is yet another new species of the grub-dog family that I've never seen before. How many new varieties are there? It seems that the conditions this beast lives in have led to it gaining a poison resistance. I suspect consuming white pikmin will do little harm to it and the dwarves. The color scheme of this species is quite strange. It almost looks like a sort of zombified bulborb! May I never have to fight an actual zombie creature anytime soon...

The colors of this beast make the meat into a pretty mess, but it's great for children!
