The Patterned Whiskerpillar is a member of the whiskerpillar family appearing in Pikmin: Spark. It has an emerald green hide and lime green whiskers. Dwelling in exterior locations, it is capable of camouflage by remaining still and tightening its muscles, allowing it to absorb the colors around it until it matches those of its surroundings. Due to this process, the Patterned Whiskerpillar has a more durable hide than other whiskerpillars. Some form a symbiotic relationship with surrounding creatures by covering them and acting as a sort of armor for them in exchange for transportation to other habitats until pupating into a Flashbang Stringfly. They show their true colors when stunned by Purple Pikmin.
Notes
Abel's medical journal
- “Muscles have a light-absorbing gland in them that allows the skin to change color. Useful but doesn't have any known medical applications.”
Lyn's sale review
- “We could sell this to the military to create color-changing armor, but Abel recommended me to not do that to not risk breaking multiple military accords.”
PIX's creature scan
