The game has similar gameplay to Pikmin 4, minus a few elements such as Oatchi and caves. The game revolves around collecting various fruits to keep a steady supply of juice but also collecting treasures to sell for profit.

Gameplay
- Story Mode: the main mode of the game. Four intrepid captains find themselves stranded on a dangerous planet, but thankfully, the Pikmin are there to help!
- Challenge Mode: this mode works exactly like the Pikmin 3's Mission Mode, with treasure collecting and enemy defeating stages.
Content
Pikmin
- Red Pikmin: immune to fire and are excellent fighters.
- Yellow Pikmin: immune to electricity, and are able to be thrown high. They’re also great at digging up objects.
- Rock Pikmin: immune to crushing, but only on soft surfaces. They can also break crystals.
- Purple Pikmin: hefty and strong, having the weight and carrying capacity of 10 Pikmin.
- Blue Pikmin: can swim through the water, and can transport objects through and under the water.
- Winged Pikmin: can fly over water, and can take different routes when carrying objects. They’re weak but excel at dealing with flying enemies.
- White Pikmin: immune to poison and are poisonous themselves. They’re fast on their feet, but also weak.
- Ice Pikmin: can freeze water and mud, allowing leaders and other Pikmin to walk on it. They can also freeze enemies.
- Prickly Pikmin: are able to climb up walls, allowing access to places even Winged Pikmin can’t reach. They’re also excellent fighters, even more so than Red Pikmin, as their spikes allow them to stay attached to the skin of creatures much longer than other Pikmin.
- Mushroom Pikmin: Pikmin affected by a Puffstool’s spores. They will follow the Puffstool, and attack leaders and healthy Pikmin.
