Pikmin: Other Frontier is a Pikmin fangame serving as a spiritual successor to Pikmin 2 due to the addition of treasures and caves. The story is that the President takes Olimar to PNF-404's titular Other Frontier to find treasure, but they crash land, and after gaining some money, the President goes missing and Olimar and Louie eventually rescue him.
Due to taking place on the other side of the planet, the climate is warmer, meaning that Crimson, Golden, and Lapis Lazuli Candypop Buds can grow on the surface and Ivory, Cyan, and Amber Candypop Buds grow exclusively underground.
Contents
Pikmin
- Red Pikmin – strongest attackers of the family due to their pointy nose. They have an immunity to fire and are best for attacking fiery enemies.
- Blue Pikmin – the water-breathing Pikmin, they are the only ones to survive under the surface. Their newest ability is having immunity to panic.
- Yellow Pikmin – immune to electricity, and the highest thrown. Also, they can wield bomb rocks.
- White Pikmin – immune to poison and can sense buried objects. They have a new Onion, alongside the other three types. Their poisonous effects are just as potent as they previously were in Pikmin 2.
- Cleaner Pikmin – pale blue Pikmin grown from Cyan Candypop Buds. They are immune to the brainwashing effects of mold and have twice the carrying strength of average Pikmin.
- Honey Pikmin – grows from Amber Candypop Buds. They are the hardest to shake off, and can also convert liquids into solids.
- Lithomin – parasitically infected lithopods. They are immune to crushing and attacks from rocky foes and have the longest throwing range.
Areas
There are five areas, four caves in each. Like Pikmin 2, the final area is discovered only after the debt is paid.
- Stump of Promise – an area taking place on a series of giant stumps, and is quite simple at first, until the discovery of a secret drainable lake.
- Rust Labyrinth – a sewer like area where large bodies of water and more complex navigation is introduced.
- Tropic Edge – a semi-tropical path, dangerous and poisonous wildlife become more common. It is also a great source of nectar.
- Sunset Mountains – a craggy canyon, methane is introduced as it creates areas only White Pikmin can enter. The last Pikmin type is introduced here.
- Lost Region – a mysterious and dangerous area where the President is found missing. Every Pikmin type is needed to overcome the area.
