The Prince Bulblax is a species of grub-dog appearing in Pikmin Evolution. As a juvenile Emperor Bulblax, it shares several physical traits with its mature form, but with elements of a more traditional bulborb appearance. For instance, while its backside isn't rocky or impenetrable, it's still moss-green and very resistant to damage; its face is also wrinkly and yellow but resembles a typical bulborb's. Overall, it looks to be a link between the standard bulborbs and the more regal bulblaxes. Like the Spotty Bulbear, this creature is a grub-dog that patrols its territory, but while the Bulbear is an agile predator, the Prince Bulblax is more of a slow and lumbering beast. Like its later stage in life, the Prince Bulblax has a pronounced tongue that it often uses to attack its prey. However, both species use their tongues in different ways: while the Emperor Bulblax has learned to perform a quick tongue-lash, the Prince Bulblax is less refined and often gets its bulbous tongue stuck to the ground and needs time to put its tongue back in its mouth.
Surprisingly, it's the creature's very tongue that acts as its weakpoint, since its hide absorbs so much damage and it has so much health. Naturally, the tongue shouldn't be attacked with Pikmin directly. Instead, lure the beast into accidentally eating an explosive orange syrup or a spicy red syrup, as either will light the creature's tongue ablaze and leave it distressed as it clumsily tries to extinguish it, only resulting in it accidentally setting itself on fire, causing massive damage. Another strategy is to have it accidentally lick another Prince Bulblax or even a Bulbear, as they will take the gesture as a threat and attempt to fight the Bulblax to death. The Emperor Bulblax is the Prince Bulblax's best defense, as when at extremely low health and in certain dens, the Prince Bulblax will scream, causing panic among Pikmin while also awakening an Emperor Bulblax somewhere on the sublevel, attracted to the source of the noise and infuriated that its offspring is under attack. Overall, despite having the Emperor Bulblax's resilience, the Prince Bulblax lacks the grace of its older form but can still be as dangerous.

The Prince Bulblax is a bulblax in Pikmin: Planetary Encounters that serves as the boss of Barren Battlehole and a miniboss in the Cave of Critters. It has a brown face, a stone crown formation on its head, destructible rocks covering its red backside, and a long, green tongue it uses to catch Pikmin. Prince Bulblaxes can vary greatly in size, as the one found in Barren Battlehole is massive and takes up its entire arena, and the several found in the Cave of Critters are the size of a Fiery Bulblax. Additionally, it can jump to crush anything it lands on, and it can spew balls of acid.

- “This peculiar species of grub-dog is a beastly, more aggressive kind of bulblax. It lashes out at small prey and other bulblaxes for food and dominance as well as finding a mate. It usually loves to dwell within black pits and dark, dirty crevasses for food. It has the ability to spew out acidic projectiles, which is not common in the grub-dog family. Spontaneous research has proved that this creature is actually the offspring of an emperor bulblax with an extreme testosterone boost, which explains why it never hurts its baby relatives because of homicidal rampages.”
