The Princess Bulblax is a species of grub-dog appearing in Pikmin Evolution as a younger Empress Bulblax. It shares several characteristics with its matured form, but also has a more traditional bulborb build. For instance, it has a pink segmented hide, but it's not so engorged that it makes the creature unable to move. It also differs from the Empress in that the spots of the Princess Bulblax resemble gemstones rather than typical spots. Like the Prince Bulblax, this creature patrols its area, though at a much faster speed than the Prince. Its attacks are also more in line with a typical bulborb than the tongue lashings of the Prince and Emperor Bulblax. Specifically, its preferences for lunge attacks make it more like Jumbo Bulborb. However, the Princess Bulblax shares the Empress' gutsy habit of attacking foes head-on, and periodically displays its ability to perform a hip smack when too many Pikmin attack its sides, flinging them away a great distance.

The Empress Bulblax has fifty-percent more health than a Spotty Bulbear but is nowhere near as pain-tolerant as the Prince Bulblax. The gemstones on the Princess's hide act as armor, requiring the Pikmin to break them off in order to reveal the softer underbelly. However, it's soon revealed that these gemstones are actually small eggs that older grub-dogs placed on the Princess' hide in order for it to practice producing eggs of its own. When broken, the eggs hatch into a single Bulborb Larva each, and since there are so many of these eggs that are needed to be broken, it's easy to be overwhelmed if not careful. Preferably, there should be a balance between damaging the Princess Bulblax, avoiding its attacks, and dealing with the larvae, making it quite a tough foe to break. Luckily, the eggs don't reappear, providing a sense of progression in victory even if the Princess isn't being hurt. The eggs can easily be dealt with by using the watery blue syrup, which will wash off the eggs, them shattering upon hitting the ground, which helps defeat the creature faster and more efficiently. Overall, while not as imposing as its counterpart, it can be a surprisingly crafty foe if given the chance.

The Princess Bulblax is a large grub-dog appearing in Pikmin: Planetary Encounters. It is the boss of Red Rock Ravine, as well as a miniboss in both the Challenge Chamber and Cave of Critters. This green-and-pink species of bulblax is just a bit smaller than an Empress Bulblax, yet more vicious. It rolls to crush prey quickly, reducing reaction time, and the Bulborb Larvae it births will swarm leaders and Pikmin if the bulblax reaches below half-health. Additionally, it can also summon different species of smaller bulborbs, ranging from a Dwarf Red Bulborb to even a Mole Bulblax.

Notes

Olimar's notes

This species of grub-dog is truly a thing to behold. It seems to be a cross between a Purple Bulborb and an Empress Bulblax... or so it may seem. The origins of this creature are a similar story to that of a Prince Bulblax, only this is a female! not a male. Its hormones start taking effect when it is about the size of a Red Bulborb. Since it is clearly the birth mother of its kind, along with Empress Bulblax, it takes the role of matriarch, only this time it has special pheromones that allow its larva to mature more rapidly than that of regular Bulborb Larvae. This is truly magnificent indeed.

Louie's notes

For a delicious stir-fry, cut the meat of this beast into strips, add salt and pepper along with cooked or fried cabbage, onions, and even lettuce. Then add steak sauce for a dinner you shouldn't forget.
