The Raisin Breadbug is a member of the breadbug family that exhibits behaviors as interesting as its appearance. Its larger, stronger counterpart is the Giant Raisin Breadbug. The Raisin Breadbug wanders about portions of a location accessible to it, and upon finding an object such as a corpse, treasure, or fruit that it can reach, it drags that object to its den. A Raisin Breadbug can only move objects that require a minimum of ten or less Pikmin to carry. Raisin Breadbugs ignore the presence of nearby Pikmin and leaders, even walking through them should they be in their path. Unlike ordinary Breadbugs that fiercely compete for the possession of an object both they and Pikmin have a hold of, the Raisin Breadbug simply holds those objects in place, preventing the Pikmin carrying them from advancing in any direction. However, a Raisin Breadbug may be overpowered in strength and then dragged along behind an object it has grabbed once the strength of eleven or more Pikmin has been applied to it. Although it is impossible for Pikmin to be pulled into the den of a Raisin Breadbug, the creature completely halting the movement of Pikmin carrying an object it has a hold of exposes them to attack from nearby predators. A Raisin Breadbug that takes an object into its den emerges from its dwelling a few moments afterward with its health replenished.

A Raisin Breadbug has the typical breadbug physiology, being a smaller creature that resembles a dinner roll and having a bulbous, rounded snout and two stubby legs, but has different colors and characteristics, and is more square and wider in shape. Its blubber is light yellow, and brown at the top, its face is beige, and its lavender-colored eyes have round, dark purple pupils. Its body features many dark brown bumps, and stretching along the entire length of it is a dark brown swirl. While both of those distinct features glisten gently when exposed to light, the former varies in shape and the former in width, and the appearance and positioning of each are unique to each Raisin Breadbug.

Much like others of its kind, a Raisin Breadbug is heavily protected by its blubber, making it trickier to defeat even if it is completely harmless. A Raisin Breadbug may only be killed by hitting its exposed face, throwing Pikmin on top of it repeatedly, or overpowering it and causing its head to slam against the underside of a ship's pod or an Onion. However, it is vulnerable at all times to Purple Pikmin pounds directed onto its back, which inflicts increased damage and causes the creature to recover more slowly, and Rock Pikmin lunges or throws, which inflict damage even through the blubber. The first two strategies may be time-consuming as they merely chip away at a Raisin Breadbug's health, the second also requiring precise aim, but the third strategy is by far the most effective as it reduces the creature's health to almost nothing in an instant. Because the creature does not die instantly by having its head slammed, prior execution of one or both of the first two strategies may be wise. Throwing Pikmin on top of a Raisin Breadbug's body, which causes it to collapse and then stand up again, slows it so long as Pikmin are being piled on top of it, meaning it may a worthwhile strategy to keep it in place. Attacking the face of a Raisin Breadbug does not slow it down, and it is by far the slowest method of killing one because Pikmin must chase after it as they can not latch onto its face.
