The Steering Spear is a metal object in Pikmin Forever, and one of the most common metal objects in the game. It is a slightly rusted and bent nail. This object can appear many times throughout the game, either sparsely scattered throughout areas or appearing randomly from defeated enemies. No instance of the Steering Spear has a set location, and several of them may appear every day. As such a common treasure, it has a weight of 1, and only 1 Pikmin can carry it. It is also only 5 units worth of metal, the lowest value in the game.

- “This javelin-like weapon appears nearly proportional to Hocotatian hands. Perhaps there was once a similarly sized race of beings who wielded this lance to defend their tribes from the gigantic creatures looming over them! Or at least, that is the story this time-tested object seems to tell. The shaft of the object appears to be bent, although I cannot imagine what horrific force this planet must have conjured to bend solid metal.”
