Samson is the Tarantulode that appears in Pikmin: Antarctic Survival. Samson is tough and gruff, being a feared hunter who uses his thread to catch prey. He hunted in a forest region before being taken to the Antarctic, after which point he took up hunting in the Snowblown Wastes where he could ambush prey lost in the snowstorm.

Samson is incredibly hairy, and also produces thread quite quickly which can be used for weaving. Samson does not know how to weave when first Awakened, but he can learn it from Aranea quite easily, and starts with a level in the skill already due to his natural talent at weaving.

Samson is named after the biblical figure of the same name, known for his long hair and extreme strength.

Attacks Eats Pikmin

The Tarantulorb is a large enemy appearing in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. The creature looks like an Arachnode, having a large, round body with six, spindly legs. Each leg has three sharp claws on the end, with the main body covered in fuzzy, brown fur. The fur is covered in numerous white stripes with a skull painted on the top abdomen of the spider.

The Tarantulorb is a large creature that does not live in a web. Instead, it tends to wander around in a small area quite slowly. It will only start moving quickly when approached by Pikmin. The Tarantulorb will ferociously charge Pikmin and snag up to ten of them to consume. Not only can it move fast, but it can eat fast too. The Tarantulorb is very agile; Pikmin latching onto the creature are easily shaken off when the Tarantulorb jerks away or turns in another direction rapidly. That is why Fur Pikmin are best suited for this creature, as they can easily grab onto and stay on the large spider. It may take a while to defeat due to its high health, but it yields great rewards in the form of seeds, and the few nectar it may drop when it dies.

The Tarantulode is a large and very hairy spider-like creature generally found in forest and jungle areas. This creature is closely related to the Arachnode, and is a much larger version of it. Instead of spinning webs to catch airborne creatures, the Tarantulode instead lurks in hiding under leaves or other sources of concealment, and spins tripwire threads all around its territory that serve to alert the Tarantulode when prey are in its domain. The Tarantulode travels along the ground and is able to move quite quickly, attacking and immobilizing any small creatures that draw near with its painful bite.

Tarantulodes are aggressive toward smaller creatures but tend to be relatively docile toward larger creatures.
