The Trap-Door Bulborb is a unique type of bulborb found on the planet Aridia in Pikmin: Planetary Encounters. It has black skin, pink eyes, and long sharp fangs. As its name suggests, it hides under small trap doors. Once prey comes into contact with it, the bulborb will spring out to eat any nearby prey, such as Pikmin. The optimal way to fight it is to use Craftmin to build straw dummies and have the bulborb chew on them. It won't be able to retreat because it will take a while to eat it, providing the perfect moment to strike. It can also inhale prey and chew them up when they are outside of its hole.
Notes
Olimar's notes
- “This predator is quite the beast for being so small. It has a fabulous and ferocious pair of sharp canines that can even make marks on a Helm Bulblax. That is why this species of grub-dog is so competitive with them. It has a strong lung capacity, making it able to suck in far-away prey from in or out of its small den. Quite the predator indeed. Explorers take caution as this is a foe I don't want to provoke.”
Louie's notes
- “Sprinkle brown sugar on this beast and bake for 20 minutes in a 350-degree oven. Then add chocolate or vanilla or whatever icing of your choice. Add strawberries and blueberries for a healthy yet unhealthy fruit cake!”
