Attacks Fires explosive mortar shells

The Two-Tone Trigger Groink is a shot-fish and relative of the Gatling Groink appearing in Pikmin 2: New Year. It may either wander the portions of a location accessible to it or stand atop a high vantage point somewhere. Upon seeing Pikmin or leaders, a Two-Tone Trigger Groink will turn to face them and fire upon them if they are in its range, raining down explosive mortar shells upon them. These mortar shells detonate upon impact with any surface, and although seemingly deadly, they often merely knock Pikmin down instead of killing them. Mobile Two-Tone Trigger Groinks may approach their prey to get a better shot at them, but stationary ones must wait until their prey is in range.

Two-Tone Trigger Groinks are rotund, cybernetic creatures that resemble fish. They have a large, scaly, yellow body with a white underside, a pair of forward-facing eyes, and a transparent, blue facial shield mounted above a blue faceplate. A pair of organic exhaust pipes, one above the other, emerge from their upper back, and located under them is a fin. Their upper legs are white, and their feet resemble fins. Contained within a hidden compartment on their faceplate is a mouth-cannon they use to attack.

Although somewhat intimidating in appearance and behavior, Two-Tone Trigger Groinks are more a nuisance than a threat, especially if they are reachable only by thrown Yellow Pikmin. They are invulnerable from the front, so the sides, back, or legs must be targeted to inflict any damage to the creatures. However, keeping a Two-Tone Trigger Groink around, especially one that is mobile, may prove useful as their projectiles are capable of harming enemies, including other Two-Tone Trigger Groinks, and damaging certain obstacles. There is no recommended strategy to use against Two-Tone Trigger Groinks other than to keep Pikmin away from their front, to avoid the chance of them being killed by their mortar shots. A Two-Tone Trigger Groink will harmlessly explode upon death, and after being put down, will begin to recover health. When its health wheel is completely refilled, the creature will spring to life and must be put down again if not delivered to the Research Pod before then.
