Keep it up! ZoadraAdmin, Bureaucrat Thanks again, I will. Ideas for the future On an unrelated note, I have some ideas about our skin. We should develop a new kind of skin (or modify a previous skin) to make it original. And we could greatly increase traffic to here. My friend Jonesle, among others is a user I know of the real world. And he hardly edits here for two reasons, one because he can not navigate correctly, and two because he doesn't know wiki markup language. I say these two areas should be focused on. I know I shouldn't just say that after only one user's situation but doing this could cause positive results. I can think like most people. They stumble upon (tehe, did you see the reference?) this site and do not have any idea how to edit wikis & are unfamiliar with the navigation of wikis. So they try to find some articles in the search bar and come across some bad quality articles and think that this wiki is trash. But we can avoid these situations if more than just "one" featured article is on the main page, maybe the current featured article with the last three in a slider-type template (which seems to be popular since apple surfaced.) and have its image and a caption with the image linking to the article and then two arrows that you can click on to move to the next featured article. These things could attract new users, and ones from NIWA. And I will ask around NIWA to get a Google replacement on Pikmin Fanon as it is listed as the wikia one. And so, I really think a push to a new skin & style that would simplify the editing and navigation for new & or inexperienced users. Please help me with this new plan, a goal, something that really could help Pikmin Fanon. ZoadraAdmin, Bureaucrat What would be in this proposed new skin? Also, the wiki markup language problem is because we don't have a finished help base. As for the navigation problem, I suggest we add a "help" option on the sidebar that links to an ask a question page, with the interface opening up like the one you get when you click the Leave a new message button on my talk page. Users see a few articles and think the wiki is trash because it is trash, for a large part. Our main problem is that we have a large amount of articles made by short-lived users that are "trash" and we have very few policies and administrative pages, as well as a very small number of active users who are ready to fix these articles up. Before we start doing anything to drastic, I suggest we try to clean the wiki up as much as possible and give it some structure before we try to get a flood of new users, or else it will become complete chaos. And sorry, you lost me on the featured article thing, can you rephrase that? So, the following image helps visualize my featured article thing... It would be virtually the same except that it would have an arrow on the center left and right letting the user navigate between featured articles. How this would be done, im not sure but an extension would have to be created and installed. The help articles would be included in the new change. Anyways, I anticipated that for every thing I said as a reason for the new change would be matched by a better reason of yours, but like I said, we are not the most creative wiki on NIWA. We are supposed to be, we only are a fanon wiki. We are said to be a creative base in NIWA, so let us now play that role and use the creativity in our users minds to piece together a masterpiece of a skin, and then, only then will we have the sleek, sheer presentation that a creative fanon wiki should be. ZoadraAdmin, Bureaucrat Most fanon sites contain forums, where speculation and random game ideas are found everywhere, and there are lots of good ideas, but these are dwarfed by random or undetailed posts and finding good ideas is hard. Pikmin Fanon, on the other hand, is more organized and more elaborate. Many thoughts or ideas expressed by fans on forums are not acceptable on the wiki unless more detail is added, which can be annoying for someone who just wanted to share something, but the wiki is great for the more elaborate (and rarer) fans who enjoy going into great detail when making there own fan games. The main difference is that short posts on forums are exhilarating to create, but can be quite boring to read, like What if there are pink pikmin and maybe they could fly!!!! Detailed descriptions like those found on wikis can be grueling to make, but make great reads and fans drink them up. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that most of this site's visitor's have never created an account. So, yeah, I agree that we should make a bigger focus on making content more presentable, as most visitors to the site will be here to read. A slider extension almost sounds like a great idea, but it is a little wikia-ish, and then the articles wouldn't be featured, really, they'd just be highlighted. Like I stated above, we need to fix the wiki up a lot before we even want to attract more visitors, and I also suggest that we affiliate with a few forums so fans will have a place to put their shorter ideas. I say we organize things better so that we have links to the enemy, area, and game categories for easy navigation. Right, all of this is right. And to add to it, a new skin wouldn't be too bad of an idea? Simply because of the presentation, and we need creativity. Something like a skin can create news about Pikmin Fanon and direct even more users to the site. But first we need to better organize. Make a simplified system of the making of fan games such as a starting template that has fill in the blanks so the articles already have the required format. That was something already on the Wikia version: the ability to make input boxes with a preloaded article format template. So, I think this whole "talk page" talk won't organize what we need so I am raising a topic on the Forums. ZoadraAdmin, Bureaucrat I'm not quite sure you got my point. Anyone determined enough to make a quality fan game idea will get used to wiki code and the wiki's format. The problem isn't doing the format for them, the problem is that this wiki doesn't have any guidelines for the format. Like I said before, before we do anything too drastic we need to finish up the wiki. Our wiki is lacking structural pages that should be up before a wiki is even announced to the public. You are just gonna have a reason to turn down everyting.. It seems if you are purposely trying to reject my ideas. ZoadraAdmin, Bureaucrat No, I'm not, I'm just giving you my opinion.
