The Volatile Armored Cannon Beetle Larva is a lithopod appearing in Pikmin: The After Years and is the younger version of the Volatile Armored Cannon Beetle. They are slightly uncommon, appearing in only one area, which is Merciless Mountains, and in some caves, such as Cave of Booms, and usually in pairs. It resembles the larval forms of other lithopods but is blue with glowing red eyes. The boulders it launches from its mouth are not only magnetized to leaders but also are highly explosive, detonating on contact with anything it hits. The explosions a Volatile Armored Cannon Beetle Larva's boulders create are powerful enough to instantly kill any surrounding enemies, including the lithopod itself, making them extremely useful in clearing sublevels of danger. It has a moderate amount of health, so if its boulders aren't used against it, Purple Pikmin should because of their high damage output and ability to stun.
